“As a former newcomer, I know from personal experience what it feels like to arrive in an unfamiliar society: with language barriers, unspoken expectations, and systems you have to learn to navigate on your own. I had plenty of willpower, but no one to guide me. I had to figure everything out and tackle it by myself.

It is precisely this experience that became my motivation to be a key figure and role model for others who come after me. Because no one should have to do it alone.”

This also drives her to advocate for municipalities to work more with these individuals. In this publication, she explains more about what key figures actually do and don’t do, shares her insights on their importance, and evaluates how their role is currently being implemented.
