Family reunification (FR) remains a crucial migration pathway, especially for refugees, as recognized by the OECD and international law. This right to family life and unity took center stage at the FRUN Annual Conference 2024, held from October 8-10 in Istanbul, Türkiye. Key stakeholders, including state members, NGOs, and refugee-led organizations (RLOs), gathered to address challenges, political changes, and practical solutions for FR, emphasizing the need for increased collaboration.

Yordi Lassooy-Tekle, representing Migration Inc. and serving as the Family Reunification Pledge Pillar lead for Refugee-Led Organizations, played a significant role at the conference. In addition to her active participation, she facilitated several panel discussions and led the roundtable on the Multi-Stakeholder Family Reunification Pledges, contributing to crucial dialogues that shape global FR efforts and advocating strongly for the role of RLOs in the process.

The Global Family Reunification Network (FRUN) continues to work towards its ambitious goal of uniting 1 million families by 2030. This initiative, involving diverse entities from departure, transit, and destination countries, is part of the #MultistakeholderPledge on FR from the Global Refugee Forum 2023.

Together, FRUN and its partners are working to make family unity a reality for many more families around the world!
